CLIMABOARD® is an innovative and ecological hot water or electric skirting-board heating system that produces a great feeling of comfort. There are no hot or cold spots because the walls themselves become part of the heating system, releasing heat steadily and evenly into the room. Quick and Efficient Control
Climaboard provides quick and efficient control over room temperature, with energy savings of up to 30% as there are no accumulations of wasted heat below the ceiling. Benefits include elimination of mould around corners and less micro-dust as there is no extra air circulation.
Easily retro-fitted
Climaboard can be easily fitted to buildings old or new even in large rooms with extensive glass surfaces or high ceilings such as restaurants, public buildings and conservatories. It has been used in churches to great effect and there is even an electrical resistance version for homes without room for a boiler. It can be merged with pre-existing heating systems such fireplaces with back boilers.
How does Climaboard work?
Applying the laws of physics, Climaboard takes advantage of "the Coanda effect", in which the tendency of a moving fluid is to attach itself to a surface and flow along it. Hence, Climaboard is usually mounted inside rooms on the exterior or structural walls where the warm air generated at skirting board level rises following the surface of the wall, effectively drying the wall and acting as an insulating layer to prevent cold air entering through the walls.
Tests show no hot or cold spots
Tests at the Politecnico di Milano show that rooms heated this way quickly achieve an even temperature distribution with as little as 1°C maximum difference in temperature for environments up to 3 meters high.
How does it compare to underfloor heating systems?
Climaboard offers all the benefits of UFH systems but at lower cost. Both provide heat from the lowest point, are energy efficient and offer the beneficial effects of radiant heat. However, Climaboard is much quicker to respond to changes in required room temperature and offers far less variation in temperature from floor to ceiling. It is quick and clean to install compared to “wet” screeded UFH systems and is easy to access for repair should that ever be necessary. It is ideally suited to retrofit situations where UFH systems are just not practical.
Climaboard® also uses much less water than underfloor systems. With less water and no mass of floor to heat, the desired temperature is reached much sooner, thus using less energy, hence less cost.
What’s new and different about Climaboard?
While the concept of skirting board heating is not new, Frog has perfected the system and has patented a number of features that overcome the problems associated with earlier designs, in particular those of noise or loss of thermal continuity caused by differential expansion rates between copper pipes and aluminium fins. Offering more heat per meter, it is “best of breed”.
Can match any colour or pattern
Climaboard is offered off-the-shelf in white or can be supplied to order in an infinite variety of finishes including wood and marble effect. Almost any surface finish can be matched just from a sample or digital photo!
